The Challenge
Millas Venezuela runs all-inclusive 3-day, 2-night trips to Isla La Tortuga — glamping on the shore, fresh-fish meals, snorkeling, beach tours, and a Friday departure from Higuerote. For years, the business lived on Instagram DMs and WhatsApp: travelers asked what was included, which boat to take, whether a given weekend still had seats, and how much they needed to put down to hold a spot.
That personal touch built trust, but it didn't scale. Every quote meant restating the same package (yacht vs. speedboat, Cabaña Estelar vs. Balinese bed, optional AC, satellite internet, Higuerote pre-night stay). Availability changed trip by trip. Pricing depended on travelers, transport, lodging, and whether someone wanted only the REF 75-per-person deposit or the full amount. A traveler browsing at midnight had no self-serve way to see real dates, build a trip with amenities, and start a reservation without waiting for a reply.
Keeping What Already Worked
WhatsApp was still how payments and logistics got confirmed — transfer, Zelle, cash, USDT — and how the team coordinated departures. Replacing that inbox with a full online checkout would have forced new tools on operators and travelers who already knew the channel.
The brief was simple: let people discover the island experience and configure their trip on a real website, then hand a clean, structured booking request to WhatsApp so the team closes the sale the way they always have.
The Solution: A Landing + Booking Funnel That Hands Off to WhatsApp
We built millasvenezuela.com as a marketing site and guided booking funnel that sits in front of the existing process:
- A destination story, not a brochure dump — the landing page sells the weekend: what the package includes (meals, lodging, beach setup, snorkeling, photo session, recreational gear), how yacht and speedboat differ (family-friendly 6-hour crossing vs. faster exclusive transfer), and why La Tortuga is worth the trip.
- Live trip dates and inventory — upcoming departures, seat counts by boat type, and allowed transport options come from the operator's CMS, so a sold-out lancha weekend stops looking bookable without rewriting the site.
- A configurator for the whole stay — on
/reservar, travelers pick a weekend, adults/children/infants, yacht or speedboat, suite type, and add-ons (yacht cabins, cabin AC, satellite internet, and other complements). Pricing updates as they choose. - Deposit or full payment, traveler's choice — lock the trip with REF 75 per person and pay the rest later, or settle the full package now — matching how Millas already sold seats.
- Checkout that opens WhatsApp with the order written — contact details, payment method, and plan feed a pre-filled message the team can confirm:
Hola, quiero confirmar esta reserva:
Fechas: viernes 12 de septiembre al domingo 14 de septiembre (2 noches)
Viajeros: 3 (2 adultos, 1 niño)
Transporte: Lancha Deportiva
Hospedaje: Cabaña Estelar
Complementos: Aire acondicionado
Plan de pago: Reserva inicial (REF 225 de REF 1.290 total)
Monto a pagar ahora: REF 225
Método de pago: Zelle
Correo: viajero@email.com
Teléfono: +58 412 000 0000
From there, nothing changes operationally: the team receives a normal WhatsApp thread, confirms payment and logistics, and runs the trip as before.
Under the Hood: Nuxt + Strapi
Two pieces of technology made this possible without burying the operator in new admin work:
- Strapi as the source of truth. Trips (
viajes), transports, suites, complements, and payment methods live in one CMS. When a departure fills up, a price changes, or a new weekend opens, the booking flow reflects it because the site reads the same catalog the team edits. - Nuxt for a fast, SEO-ready funnel. The marketing pages and multi-step booking UI (
/reservar→/checkout→ WhatsApp) are a single Vue app with shared pricing logic, so totals stay consistent and the public site stays indexable while checkout stays private (noindex).
The Result
Travelers can now see what the island weekend includes, compare transport and lodging, pick a real departure with availability, add amenities, and choose deposit or full pay — on their own time. The back-and-forth of "what's included?", "do you have that Friday?", and "how much to reserve?" shrinks before the conversation starts. The team still closes every booking in the same WhatsApp inbox; the site just makes sure that chat opens with a traveler who already knows their dates, boat, cabin, extras, and how much they intend to pay now.
